🌟 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the September North Tahoe Chamber Mixer, co-hosted with the North Tahoe Business Association!

Despite the rainy forecast, we were welcomed with sunny skies and a magical lakeside afternoon at Tahoe Waterman’s. It was a fantastic chance to connect with our vibrant local business community in Carnelian Bay, Tahoe Vista, and Kings Beach.

We indulged in delicious bites and bevs from Waterman’s Cafe, enjoyed live music by the talented Heidi Kuzma from Tahoe Truckee School of Music, and had a fantastic raffle featuring prizes from Music on the Beach, Tahoe City Oktoberfest, Elivate, Perennial Nursery, Tahoe Flow Arts & Fitness, TERC, and Tahoe Waterman’s! 🎶✨

Successful cleanup with BEBOT at Commons Beach in

Successful cleanup with BEBOT at Commons Beach in Tahoe City last week! 🌊 We loved seeing BEBOT in action at the @tahoecityfarmersmarket and can’t wait to watch it continue to make rounds on the North Shore over the next few weeks, wrapping up its end-of-summer cleanings at Kings Beach, Moon Dunes, Lake Forest, and Tahoe Vista.

Here’s an interesting fact: At one site in 2022, BEBOT was put to the test after volunteers had already combed the beach. While the volunteers collected 30 pieces of trash, BEBOT covered the same area and uncovered an additional 300 pieces of microtrash buried in the sand. This experiment highlights the small, yet harmful litter lurking beneath the surface, and underscores the importance of combining human efforts with technology to keep Tahoe’s shores clean. 🌍

Funded by TOTTBID Dollars At Work, this spectacular evening will feature live music from Bicicletas Por La Paz starting at 6:30 p.m., followed by an unforgettable drone show by Sky Elements Drone Company at 9:00 p.m., illuminating the beautiful Lake Tahoe skies with 300 drones! ✨

Come join us at Kings Beach to close out the 18th annual Music on the Beach Series with an evening of great vibes, mesmerizing lights, and community spirit.

Applications for the 2024-2025 Annual Grant Cycle, part of the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program, are due Friday, August 23 at 11:59 p.m. This initiative uses tourism revenue to fund projects and programs for one year, with the potential to kickstart longer initiatives. The grant cycle is geared toward projects ready for immediate implementation upon approval.

As you get ready to submit your application, please remember to:

Read through the Annual Grant Program webpage and make sure your project/program is eligible to apply.

Note the priority areas that this grant cycle is supporting and make sure your project/program addresses at least one.

The TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program supports a variety of projects, including the construction and maintenance of trails within the North Lake Tahoe trail transit corridor. For example, the TCPUD began reconstructing the North Shore Trail in June 2024, enhancing safety, ADA compliance, and connectivity.

The award recognizes a CalTravel member individual or organization that has successfully implemented sustainability and stewardship practices that enhance environmental health, manage visitor impacts, and improve the well-being of residents in their communities.

The NTCA was honored for its shift in focus from previously serving as a Destination Marketing Organization to becoming a Destination Management Organization focused on reinvesting tourism revenue into tangible solutions to benefit the natural environment and the community. #tottbiddollarsatwork
